5: Kanan - The Last Padawan - Comics

I've read volume 1 of this series (which if I'm not mistaken cover issues 1-6). I'll be reading volume 2 once it's all collected.

Bearing that in mind, I loved this graphic. One of the better comic runs to come out recently. It also serves as a great primer to the Rebels animated series.

The artwork is on point and the writer really understands how to tell a good Star Wars story. A lot of the other comics took a little bit of time to get going on all cylinders but Kanan The Last Padawan is a bona fide page turner from the jump.

Kanans origin is both heartbreaking and endearing. It was interesting to see the turn of the clones on the Jedi and how personal it was from working so closely together. Also, showing that "Order 66" was more of a trigger word (Manchurian candidate style) more than blind loyalty to Palpatine.

One question I had, when Kanan's master tells him to run and moments later yells, "Kanan! No!" Was she saying that because there was a clone trooper zeroing in on him? Or is it because she actually didn't want him to run? Or was the point to leave it ambiguous?

I know in season one of Rebels the inquisitor asked Kanan what the last words of his master were. He replied, "Run." Then the inquisitor said to him, "and how did you feel knowing she died alone while he ran like a coward." So it made me wonder. Did Kanan not hear her yell no? Did he want to forget she yelled it? Or am I just over thinking it? Lol

Anyway, high praises for these issues from me.
